Dear Doctors and Stakeholders, Colleagues, Haemophiliacs and Friends,
The annual European Haemophilia Conference organised by the European Haemophilia Consortium (EHC) will take place in Bucharest from the 4th to 6th October 2013, an event hosted by the Romanian Hemophilia Association.
I express my thanks to representatives of haemophilia associations from every country that voted for Romania to organise this event.
It is an honour to have this opportunity and responsibility. Bucharest, a beautiful city known as 'Little Paris', is the ideal place to hold the 26th EHC Conference and we hope it satisfies you both intellectually and as a tourist.
We look forward to this conference and are confident that it will be a success. This event will focus attention on haemophilia care in Romania, and will help us to make a case for better haemophilia care for patients. Although haemophilia care in Romania is funded by the state, its funding level is low and unsatisfactory and therefore, people with haemophilia suffer from frequent and heavy bleeding episodes. Therefore, we believe that by organizing the 26th annual EHC Conference in Romania, we will increase the level of attention on this condition, and with the completion of various projects and programmes undertaken by the Romanian Hemophilia Association, this event be the catalyst for the implementation of a comprehensive national system for treating people with haemophilia in our country.
The evolution of healthcare in recent years makes us all realize the need to update the current practice of treating haemophilia throughout Europe and the need to meet the challenges of less economically developed countries in providing treatment for haemophilia.
We believe that your participation in this conference, dedicated to haemophilia, in 2013 will bring you great rewards both professionally and personally.
President of Romanian Hemophilia Association
